Julien Bornon, ICT4D Program Manager
Julien is a program manager in ICT for Development. He develops, coordinates and manages projects run by MTDS. He is in close contact with our partners to design and implement activities in line with their needs and their capacities. Based in Rabat, Julien was previously in charge of ICT4D projects for UNESCO for the North Africa region. In this role, he undertook multiple missions in Algeria, Tunisia, and Mauretania. He also contributed to planning and implementation of other UNESCO projects in the Arab World.
Adil Bikarbass, Technical Director
Adil Bikarbass, a senior information technology specialist at Morocco Trade and Development Services (MTDS), has extensive experience in designing and implementing appropriate and secure networking solutions for a wide variety of private, public, and civil society organizations throughout the African continent. Equally at ease in the air conditioned network operating centers of the largest and most sophisticated networks in the continent’s capitals and in rural secondary cities where electricity and telephones do not yet exist, Mr. Bikarbass is able to adapt network technologies to the needs and capacity of specific projects.
Sandy Wark, ICT4D Department Head
Sandy leads MTDS’ ICT4D unit. She has extensive background in local development programs and in particular civil society development, education and combating child labor. She is an employee of MTDS since 1995 and currently is managing successful program with a 3 million dollar budget for integrating ICT into education and vocational training programs as part of a larger 4 year USAID funded project.
Ms. Wark has lived in Morocco since 1990 with the exception of two short assignments in Rwanda and Macedonia. She has also consulted in Tunisia, Haiti, Guinea, Mali, Madagascar, Indonesia and the Philippines. She founded and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Association Tanmia.ma.
Karl Stanzick, Managing Director
Karl has worked to bridge the Digital Divide since he finished his Peace Corps service in Benin, West Africa in 1993. As a native Californian educated at UC Santa Barbara, one of the original nodes of what is now the Internet, he has over twenty years of experience with this technology and its evolution. Living and working in Africa for 15 years has allowed him to understand the needs and appropriateness of information technology integration with developmental goals.
