Creation of MTDS

In September 1993, MTDS was founded, marking the beginning of its journey as a pioneering technology service provider.

MTS introduced MCI Mail with X.25 in Morocco

In 1994, MTS introduced MCI Mail with X.25 in Morocco. MCI Mail was one of the earliest commercial email services in the United States, becoming a significant player in the global telecommunications arena.

1995

Dial-up Internet

In December 1995, Morocco introduced dial-up internet, marking a major step in its digital connectivity journey. This development opened new avenues for communication and information access for its citizens.

1994

The Birth of the .ma Domain:

In 1995, the .ma domain was configured by Amine Alaoui and subsequently, control of this domain was handed over to the Office National des Postes et Télécommunications (ONPT) in Morocco, marking a significant step in the country's advancement in the digital realm.

1996

Dedicated leased line connections over copper

In 1996, MTDS launched dedicated leased line connections utilizing copper cables, significantly enhancing connectivity options for their users.

1994

Arrival of GSM phones

In April 1994, Itissalat Al-Maghrib introduced the GSM (Global System for Mobile) mobile telephony service on the 900Mhz band.

1999-2006

Leland Initiative

From 1999 to 2006, significant projects were undertaken in Mali, Madagascar, Mozambique, and Ivory Coast, with initiatives starting as early as 1998 in Benin and Guinea under the Leland Initiative.

2015

Fiber Optic FTTH

In 2015, MTDS launched Fiber Optic FTTH service in Morocco, significantly enhancing the country's telecommunications with high-speed internet access for homes and businesses.
